PAST EVENTS INFORMATION:
Multi-Use Trail Project - October 2015
Nike Park Multi-Use Trail At their September 17th meeting, the Board of Supervisors accepted $2.6 million in Federal grant funds for the construction of Segment 1 and 2 of the Park-to-Park Trail. This allocation provides complete construction funding for 3.1 miles of the Trail, from the intersection of S. Church Street and Battery Park Road, all the way into Nike Park. Final plans on these two segments are expected for submittal to VDOT by the end of October.
The Trail will be 8-10 feet wide and safely accommodate two-way pedestrian and bicycle traffic on a facility completely removed from vehicular traffic. Upon completion, it will connect Windsor Castle Park in Smithfield with Nike Park in Carrollton, as well as providing almost continuous multi-modal access within the S. Church Street corridor for residents.
